What is the National Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme?

The EEOS is a European Union directive implemented in Ireland to ensure that energy suppliers and distributors actively contribute to national energy savings. In Ireland, the scheme is administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and has been operational since 2014. It applies to residential, commercial, and public sectors.
Bord Gáis Energy participates in the Irish Government’s Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme (EEOS). An example of how Bord Gáis Energy delivers energy savings is by offering the installation of Hive Active Heating and retrofitting services.
Energy credits are validated energy savings under the National EEOS.
