What is a Pay As You Go meter?

A Pay As You Go (PAYG) meter is prepaid and requires customers to top up before using electricity or gas.

Instead of receiving a bill after usage, customers purchase credit, which is then loaded onto the meter. A PAYG meter means you can control how much you spend by topping up your meter only when you need to. It's a quick, simple and hassle-free way to manage your energy costs.

Please note that it's not recommended that vulnerable customers switch to a PAYG meter.
