Before you start
- Best time to submit: 1 to 5 days before the start of your 'next bill between' date.
- You can check your next bill date in your online account.

The easiest way: Use your online account
- Sign in to your online account. Don’t have an account? You can register online.
- Select the account you want to submit a reading for.
- Click the "Submit a reading" tab.
- Enter your meter reading and click Submit.
- You’ll see a confirmation message once it’s sent to Gas Networks Ireland or ESB Networks.

If you can’t submit a reading online
You might see an error if:
- The reading is lower than your last actual reading.
- Your meter hasn’t been read by the network in over 12 months.
- Your meter type isn’t supported online.
In these cases, send your reading directly to the networks:

A few things to keep in mind
- The network may reject a reading if it doesn’t match your usage history.
- You might not see your exact reading on your bill, but it still helps improve future estimates.
Smart meter users
If you have a smart meter connected to ESB Networks, you don’t need to submit readings. The meter sends them automatically.
