When can I expect to receive a payment?

You must accept Bord Gáis Energy’s terms and conditions for the Microgen Export plan in order to receive an export payment.

We’ll calculate your payment using your metered export data, or a deemed export quantity provided by ESB Networks. This will be backdated to 15 February 2022 or to when you became eligible for a payment (if after this date).

To offer our customers the most competitive rate possible, we’ll make a payment to customers every six months. Once you’ve exported for six months, payment will be made as a credit on your electricity bill. We started making our first payments from March 2023.

If you leave Bord Gáis Energy before your payment is due, you'll receive your export payment up to when you leave. This will be paid as a credit on your final electricity bill.
